THE STORY BEHIND WAYMARK
Why We Created Waymark
For much of our lives, psychedelics were discussed almost entirely through the language of danger, legality, and stigma. Growing up in Southeast Idaho, we understood why many people approached the subject with hesitation—and why newer claims about psilocybin could be equally difficult to trust.
As research expanded and regulated psilocyoin services began developing in other states, we saw a growing gap between two extremes: outdated assumptions on one side and overly idealized portrayals on the other.
Waymark was created to offer something more grounded—a place where people can examine credible information, understand the legal context, ask practical questions, and form their own informed perspectives without pressure.
Our goal isn’t to shape opinions—it’s to make informed ones possible.
MEET THE FOUNDERS
Meet Jake & Janet Bryan
Waymark Wellness grew out of our own search for trustworthy answers. As we navigated our own legal psilocybin journeys, we discovered that finding balanced, evidence-informed information was surprisingly difficult. Much of what we encountered felt either overly promotional or overly dismissive, leaving little room for thoughtful, objective education.
As lifelong members of the Southeastern Idaho community, we’ve spent our careers serving others through healthcare, patient care, and healthcare leadership. Those experiences shaped our belief that people deserve access to clear, credible information—especially when exploring complex and evolving topics.
We created Waymark to be the resource we wished had existed: a place where curiosity is welcomed, questions are respected, and education comes before opinion. Our hope is to help people understand the evolving science, legal landscape, and responsible use of psilocybin with clarity, balance, and respect.
A LOCALLY GROUNDED PERSPECTIVE
Created with Southeast Idaho in mind
Waymark is not designed around psychedelic culture or assumption that everyone should embrace psilocybin.
It was created for a community where people often value caution, personal responsibility, credible evidence, and clear legal boundaries. We believe those boundaries belong in the conversation.
Our purpose is not to persuade people toward an experience. It is to make it easier to understand the subject accurately—wherever someone currently stands.
A MORE INFORMED LOCAL CONVERSATION
What we hope to contribute
As Waymark grows, we hope to contribute through educational resources, group presentations, professional conversations, and thoughtful connections within the community.
The full website and resource library are still being developed, but the work has already begun.
